Dear Reader - February March 2006

Well, back into a new year. Let’s hope it brings success and happiness to all.

This second bi-monthly issue of The Eye Uganda brings you information on a very elusive topic: The Ik Tribe in Northern Uganda. These people, so unknown and yet so beloved by all who visit them, lead a fascinating but threatened lifestyle. We hope you enjoy their story, brought to us by new journalist Simon Jennings, and their beautiful faces given to us in photo form by Robin Yamaguchi.

Don’t miss Doc Stockley’s latest article, Healthy Children with Hearty Appetites. It’s a necessity for anyone with small children and perfect since Uganda is teeming with fresh and delicious foods!

We also bring you tips on road safety, teaching your child to read and an explanation of the terrific smog that blankets Kampala.

Unfortunately, we must also remind you that there are many imitations of The Eye, of course never to the standards The Eye has set! Make your advertising and information choices wisely – make sure you’ve done your research! A big thanks to those who have chosen The Eye

Don’t forget to send your upcoming events and article ideas – for both Uganda and Rwanda – to our offices here in Kampala. Email theeye@theprinthouse.co.ug

It is with regret this issue that this will be my last Dear Reader for a while as I am leaving Uganda, my home for 5 years, to go back to South Africa. Of course I will be keeping a watchful EYE to ensure things are running smoothly, just from a distance.

So a thank you to all those who have made life utterly entertaining …

I’ll be back …
