The story begins at Heather Morrow’s house in Connecticut where her son in law can’t hurry enough to make her move to a life care facility after the death of her husband. Heather is unprepared to find a letter from her missing granddaughter Flori asking for help, but she sets off to Africa determined to find and help her. During her journey, Heather relives moments of her past, which help her understand the thread of yesterday, today, and tomorrow, and her own role in the cycle of life much better. Her horizon expands with every person she meets on her way from Kampala to Gulu, and to her own surprise she regains confidence in herself.
This brilliant short book touches upon so many issues that every reader can relate to at least some of them, unimportant how old you are or for how long you have been in Uganda. It is written in an uncomplicated and easy-to-read language, and keeps you turning the pages to find out if Heather actually finds Flori. |
