Located in the Garden City Shopping Centre on the Ground Floor is a wonderful restaurant called Ranchers.

I had eaten at Ranchers before but had only ordered their sandwiches, which are always well worth ordering in their own right. I arranged to meet up with some friends at Ranchers during my lunch hour – as I had only an hour to order, eat and return to work, I was a little concerned about the level of service and so I decided to leave work at 12:45 pm to avoid the 1:00 pm rush. I estimated that if it took an hour I would be back at work by 2:00 pm having allowed myself a comfortable and safe 15 minutes to get back to work.

Ranchers have plenty of seating both inside and outside of the restaurant. I find it more pleasant to sit outside of the actual restaurant as I find that the fumes from the grill can be a little overpowering at times. When we arrived at Ranchers we managed to sit in the outside seating area - three tables already occupied. We were welcomed by our waiter, Evans, who took our drinks order without any hesitation at all. I say this because one of my guests had a really tall drinks order and when he had finished explaining what he wanted I looked at Evans as if to ask “Did you get that?” Evans nodded in agreement and took off to get us our drinks. When they arrived, the order was spot on.

The Menu at Ranchers caters for Meat, chicken and seafood lovers – I found that there is very little on the menu for Vegetarians in the way of Main Courses. They do however have an amazing Salad Bar and the vegetables and salads provided are plentiful and really tasty and on there is always a wide variety of both to choose from.

Whenever I eat out at a restaurant I always have a specific dish in mind which inevitably leads me to the appropriate restaurant. However on this occasion I had a Salad in mind but when I glanced through the menu I came upon the grilled Red Snapper under the Seafood section. It comes with vegetables and roasted parsley potatoes but I opted to change these for a salad and chips. It was so tasty I couldn’t get enough. The Fish literally just fell apart in my mouth and every mouthful I took was savored. My two friends ordered the Pepper Steak and the Pepper Chicken Fillet respectively which were equally as delicious.

The meals are very reasonably priced. To give you an example, our three meals plus four cold drinks (Soda’s) came to a total of 47,000/=. To top it all off, I had eaten and paid the bill and was ready to leave by 1:30 pm to be back at work. A really worthwhile experience overall.

**Ranchers are stockiest of fine cheeses, breads and Italian products. You can also buy good quality meats and various cuts from them. They also sell a range of fresh fish and a range of other delectable seafood’s.
